The Mighty Lions roared into the final of the MFA Nadkarni Cup 2024 with a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over CFCI in a high-stakes semifinal clash.
After a goalless first half, the game sparked to life in the 53rd minute when CFCI's Amrit converted a free kick to give his team the lead. The Mighty Lions, however, refused to back down and ramped up their attacking intent.
Their relentless efforts bore fruit in the 83rd minute. Himanshu dropped deep to collect the ball and played it to Shamer on the right. Shamer whipped in a precise low cross to the far post, where Tanmay was perfectly positioned to tap in the equalizer, igniting the MYJ camp.
Just five minutes later, Tanmay turned provider, delivering a sumptuous ball into the box. Himanshu’s powerful header was fumbled on the goal line by the CFCI goalkeeper, and the ever-alert Allan seized the opportunity, nudging it over the line to put MYJ-GMSC ahead.
The Mighty Lions held firm in the final moments to secure the win and book their spot in the final.
